About Kate

Kate Frykberg is an experienced Chief Executive, entrepreneur and management consultant with a strong IT background. Currently Executive Director of the Todd Foundation, she was Businesswoman of the year in 2000, (winning the ASB Wise Women Regional, National and Supreme awards for Women Business Leaders), received the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) Royal Honour also in 2000 for services to business and the community, and is a fellow of the NZ Institute of Management.

Kate graduated from Victoria University of Wellington in 1982 with a degree in English Literature, then spent thirteen years as a Systems Analyst and Project Manager in New Zealand and overseas before co-founding The Web Limited in 1995. As Managing Director, Kate developed The Web Limited into a highly successful, 40-person company in two locations. She also guided the company through its successful acquisition by KPMG Consulting (now BearingPoint) and was a member of KPMG Consulting's NZ Senior Management Team.

Kate is chair of Philanthropy NZ and chair of the Thinktank Charitable Trust.  Her previous appointments include the board of Quotable Value Limited, NZ Institute of Management and the Prime Minister's Science and Innovation Advisory Council.

Kate also has experience as a writer and as a volunteer counsellor and facilitator, bringing a people-focused and creative approach to her work. She is a strong supporter of ethical business and is active in the voluntary sector.
